As a platoon sergeant working in logistics, I learned troop/personnel handling and management. I had to do a lot of administrative work when we were stateside. I had to mentor and take care of my marines physically, financially and just be a mentor for them in their lives in general. All of that has helped me look at things differently so I can not just jump to a conclusion, and work through problems to find the best route for success.
I served in the Marine Corps for 8 years, and I would say my best experience was a deployment to Afghanistan where I got to spend days on end with the locals and be a kind of a part of their society.
