Education Points: 0.2

Winter conditions of 2013-2014 resulted in widespread winterkill and turf loss, leading to significant declines in playability, aesthetic quality and costly reestablishment. Some GCSAA members are in climates where thicker ice and deeper snow are more routine occurrences. In this education event, we invited two instructors to make shorter presentations, then opened the microphones for discussion.

Michelle DaCosta, Ph.D., covered the major causes for winter injury and physiological mechanisms that may aid in turfgrass freezing tolerance.

Sam Bauer, presented the Five Most Important Considerations in Putting Your Golf Course to Bed, a review of various agronomic practices aimed at improving chances for turfgrass survival.
Listen in and hear advice from your peers that will help you take action now for the upcoming weather.
