Salinity and sodium hazards in soils and water are two fundamentally different aspects of irrigation water quality. In this 90-minute webinar, David Kopec, Ph.D., the extension specialist at the University of Arizona in Tucson, will discuss the first topic of salinity. In practical terms, the measurement of salinity, the recognition of plant stress, and how to adjust irrigation target amounts based on water quality and the species of turfgrasses managed will be covered. Kopec will also provide field management options to help you maximize growth under saline conditions. Suitable examples will be provided which address representative problems associated with salinity, their interpretation and how to manage turf under various saline regimes.
