Rick Brandenburg, Ph.D., NC State University, and Lane Tredway, Ph.D., Syngenta Technical Manager, will discuss monitoring and management strategies for mole crickets in turf. In this webinar, they will focus on species identification, mole cricket life cycles and reproduction, how and where mole crickets cause damage, and their habitat and food sources. They will also detail strategies for monitoring mole crickets on the golf course to help you with proper timing and selection of management practices.
About the Instructor
Rick Brandenburg, Ph.D., is the William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor at the North Carolina State University. He earned his B.S. from Purdue University and his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. Brandenburg’s research focuses on integrated pest management, pest monitoring and forecasting, as well as environmentally and cost-effective management strategies. Brandenburg has been a GCSAA faculty member since 1995, teaching at the annual education conference and authoring two self-study courses.
Lane Tredway, Ph.D., is the Southeast Technical Manager for Syngenta. He is responsible for developing solutions for turf and landscape pests and providing technical support to turfgrass managers. He earned his B.S. in agronomic science from Penn State University, his master’s degree in plant biology from Rutgers and his Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of Georgia. Tredway was formerly an associate professor and extension specialist in the Department of Plant Pathology at North Carolina State University.
