Carbon balances and carbon sequestration have become topics of great interest lately, and turfgrass systems have a well-documented ability to store carbon. But do our systems really serve as a carbon sink, or a carbon source? Beth Guertal, Ph.D., will lead an exploration of some recent research in carbon in this 60-minute webcast. She’ll do a basic introduction to soil Carbon (C) and how it may affect other things in your turf system, including microbial biomass, microbial activity and nitrogen fertilization. You’ll leave the hour with a greater appreciation of your carbon and some basic numbers to document the size of pools of carbon in your turf and turfed soils.
